The cancer bioinformatics and systems biology team is a newly established computational group applying the methods of large-scale dataset analysis and systems biology to cancer research. Jacques Colinge is especially interested in the application of network biology concepts for this purpose. The main themes they want to develop are: personalized medicine; cancer drug mechanism of action, side effects, and repurposing; combined therapies; cancer pathways modeling at multiple scales.

The Colinge group is also interested in the developments of key statistical and mathematical models required by technologies which play an important role in cancer biology investigations, e.g., quantitative mass spectrometry for posttranslational modifications dynamics (phosphorylation, histone acetylations and methylations, etc.) and protein interaction mapping (protein complexes, protein-drug binding, protein-nucleic acid interactions).

Jacques Colinge obtained his PhD in mathematics at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. He then joined the Serono Pharmaceutical Research Institute as a bioinformatician, followed by GeneProt Inc. where he started his first group. He headed the Bioniformatics Group at CeMM from 2006 to 2014 and was an adjunct Professor of Bioinformatics at the Technical University of Graz since 2009. Since November 2014 he has obtained a team leader position for cancer bioinformatics and systems biologiy at the Institut de Recherche en Cancérologie de Montpellier.
